Kandinsky asks a question if it is enough to have one dot for a work of art? And then he offers the simplest and shortest case with a dot put centrally – a dot in the centre of the basic plane in a form of a square. Kandinsky admits that in this case bisounding of the dot and the plane makes monosounding, and the plane sounding hereby may not be taken into account. In the artist’s opinion this example demonstrates preimage of the pictorial expression [6].

Let’s imagine a situation when out of a picture gallery we get acquainted with the works by the famous artists, correlating the depicted with its title, but vice versa. As future spectators we are getting acquainted with the titles of the works, being ready to see the pictures later. Reading the titles one may put a question: what can be depicted in a picture with the title: “A White Line”, “Orange-Violet”, “Whimsical”, “Intersection”, “Dark Freshness”, “Green Emptiness”  (Kandinsky) or “Reflection”, “Birth of Floating Desires”, “Loneliness” (Dalí)? If a title-name of a picture is a concrete notion (for example, “A White Figure”), then we as future spectators can suppose a lot of variants this line will be depicted. What should one do if a title-name doesn’t point out the starting object of the future portrayal, for example “Composition” (Mondrian) or “Birth of Floating Desires” (Dalí)?

The problem of object and objectless images was thoroughly researched by Kazimierz Twardowski in his work “To the Issue of the Content Study and the Object off Imagination”, which is interesting in the context of logics as well as in the context of the pictorial text analysis, especially if we speak about non-figurative, abstract art.

When they speak of “imaginations”, Twardowski writes, they understand either the acts of imagination – activity of imagination, or the imagined thing – content of the imagination. Twardowski emphasizes that they got accustomed to use instead of the expression “imagination” one of these two expressions: “an act of imagination” and “a content of imagination” [7]. He believes the main task is to differentiate between the content of the imagination and the object of imagination and analyze their interrelations.
